If you are looking for cheap blinds then you must realize that “you get what you pay for”. That being said you can still get really good blinds that won’t break the bank. If they are going in an apartment or in a room that isn’t used that frequently then you can get away with cheap blinds because they are suiting your purpose and fitting within your budget.

When shopping for cheap blinds it is important to remember that there is a point when cheap blinds become to cheap. For instance I was looking for a set of cheap blinds for my daughters room and a second bathroom. Being the consummate bargain shopper I headed over to my local “Dollar Store” and bought a set of Mini Blinds that matched the width of the window. They were white and had the typical pull cord. They came with all the hardware, well almost all the hardware. Someone forgot to include the screws. After much searching through the garage I found several screws that would do the trick, even though they were mismatched and one was almost long enough to go through the siding on the outside of the house I was in business.

I got all my girl tools together and managed to hang the cheap blinds. They looked fine except for one small problem. The width was perfect but they were at least three feet too long. You could have made two sets of blinds out of just this one cheap blind. So I took the cheap blind down and found the instructions. There had to be instructions on how to shorten them right? I wouldn’t know because the instructions were in Spanish. Now had I known this ahead of time I would have paid more attention in Spanish class. No big deal I went on the internet and finally found a tutorial on how to shorten my cheap blinds. It took about an hour but I was able to shorten them enough so my cat couldn’t climb up on them as they hung to the floor.

Well, I hung the cheap blinds back up and was feeling pretty good about myself again until I noticed one slight problem. The cheap blinds were transparent. I mean you could see right through them. They would be perfect for the consummate voyeur but not for me. No way I’m putting these cheap blinds in my bathroom.

OK, we all know that manufacturers use cheap material so they can keep the prices low. But there comes a point where you have to say enough is enough. I mean think this one through fellows. You actually need to make the cheap blinds out of a material that actually keeps the outside world blind to what’s going on with the inside world. Why call it a cheap blind you could just have called it a cheap see-through.

You certainly do get what you pay for. You can definitely get cheap blinds at reasonable prices but not at the dollar store.
