The last thing people consider when they’re looking at outdoor mats is how attractive and decorative they are, mainly because outdoor mats are used, well, outdoors, so there’s hardly a need for them to look good especially if they will just end up ruined thanks to exposure to the sun, rain, and other things. But you shouldn’t have to just settle for ugly mats in the name of practicality. The way mats are made has improved significantly over the years, so nowadays, you can find a lot of outdoor mats that are not just pretty, but also hard-wearing and resistant to wear.

The most commonly used material in outdoor mats these days is 100% virgin polypropylene, believed to be the best and strongest one available. As a result, mats made of this material are strong, and they can be even more durable with UV treatment which will allow them to remain in good condition even after sun exposure. Another ideal material is rubber that has been made from recycled tires. These materials are definitely good for outdoor mats, and while you won’t get a lot of fascinating designs, they do make for mats that have simple but attractive colors.

These are not the only materials that are good for outdoor mats, however. Bamboo is one material that is gaining a lot of recognition, mainly because it helps a mat look more natural, and yarn is another. The type of yarn that is used in outdoor mats, however, is synthetic and manufactured to be weather-resistant. This allows the mat to have a natural, handmade look and yet be able to withstand the effects of foot traffic, weather conditions, and overall use.

Where can you use outdoor mats? For starters, you can place them on your front porch or by your front door, or even on your outdoor patio and yard. They won’t just serve the basic purpose of keeping the area clean, but can also function as a decorative accent for the area, especially if they’re made of good materials and have nice colors and designs. Outdoor mats can also be used for your swimming pools or hot tubs to ensure that the surrounding area will be safe for people to walk on even as they drip water all over the place.

It would also be a good idea to have soft rubber mats on a playground for your children because these could protect them from any scrapes or falls as they play. You can even get some colorful ones that could make their play area look brighter.
